You never get enough of Kgalagadi Cross-Border Park. It is always different, unpredictable, exceptional and with the sparse vegetation and animal density in the dry Auob and Nossob riverbeds, it offers you a first class gaming experience.

There are many reasons to visit Kgalagadi, including red dunes, starry skies and magnificent views of large animals such as leopards, cheetahs and gems, but a visit to see the Kalahari top lions will satisfy your senses.

Kalahari Lions
Predators are the largest attraction in Kgalagadi. Chances are good to see cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena and clear lion with black mane.

The Kalahari lions are the kings of the Kalahari desert. Unlike lions in other parts of Africa, these lions have light gold mane, longer and thinner legs and large legs. features common to other species adapted to desert life. Males exhibit mane that ranges from blonde to dark, strikingly black – for which they are known. Females have a slender physique designed for stamina and are strong and insidious.

These lions travel much longer distances than lions elsewhere in Africa due to the low prey density found in this harsh and arid environment. Kalahari offers no shrub or shade except for a few common thistles. The pride of living here has more challenges to overcome than living in any other area.

Kgalagadi lions have innate cooling mechanisms that begin to cool their blood before it reaches the brain. With resolute resistance to thirst, they defend themselves against the heat and the huge extensions of drought.

To maintain their strength, Kalahari lions often rely on small meals and are known to plunder everything from ordinary birds to giant lands.

View
Kgalagadi is a vast desert of shrubs and sand that stretches between South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. It is one of the largest sand fields in the world – covering 2.5 million square kilometers of South Africa.

A desert with endless sand, high dunes and disappearing horizons. Due to the abundant grass of the desert, there are many bushes around. The red dunes, the sparse vegetation and the dry riverbeds of the Nossob and Auob rivers create truly breathtaking scenery. The photo opportunities are great, with the messy background, lots of birds and great animal interactions.

At night, the setting sun paints the dunes from light pink to bright orange.

Kgalagadi is truly a semi-deserted wilderness with yellow grass, red dunes, endless peace and space.
