How to Find and Book Best Greyhound Bus Ticket Prices
Unlike the Bolt or MegaBus, which are known for their legendary prices close to $ 1, Greyhound prices per route are quite consistent and fall into a small range depending on the day and time of travel.
That said, there are some ways to make sure you have the most affordable bus ticket:
- book early. Prices start to increase within two weeks from the date of your departure.
- Travel in the middle of the week or on holidays, preferably before 10 a.m. As expected, the less frequent days and hours are the most accessible.
- Shop online at Rome2rio or through the Greyhound website or mobile app. Even if you are right outside the station, using the mobile app will still cost less than walking to the checkout a few steps away. (You can not buy tickets through the driver.)

- Sign up for Greyhound Road Rewards, which offers a 10% discount on your first trip. The points you earn while driving can be used to redeem future discounts and savings.
- Discount tickets: Children traveling with an adult do not pay the full price and students receive a 10% discount. A 10% discount is also available to active-duty or retired military personnel, while passengers over 61 receive a 5% discount.

E-tickets are not yet available for all app-based purchases, so be sure to take the time to print your ticket from the kiosk when you arrive. Bring a personal ID for all tickets.
Greyhound recommends that you arrive at the bus station at least 60 minutes before your desired departure time. If you already have tickets and do not check a bag, you will not need that much time. Boarding starts 15-20 minutes before departure.

If you are new to bus travel or traveling alone, try to avoid arriving, leaving or staying too late at night when there will be fewer people at the station.

If your luggage is lost or damaged on the road, you can claim compensation. Remember: for most transfers, you are responsible for picking up your luggage from your first bus and taking it to the next bus.
What if something goes wrong?

- Flexible fare tickets allow full and partial refunds as well as changes in departure date and time.
- If you change to another departure date or time, non-refundable tickets will be charged.
- None of the tickets allow you to change your starting point or destination.
- No refund will be given if the bus is delayed.

- According to Greyhound, the company cannot guarantee arrival or departure times due to traffic, weather and mechanical problems.
- You can track your bus through the Greyhound mobile app or website.
Greyhound travel tips
- Bring snacks, a blanket or scarf and headphones to watch TV or listen to music.
- Many buses stop, but healthy eating options may be limited. Also, bring cash, as some areas may not accept credit cards for balance.
- Each seat has a lamp for reading late at night and on night routes.
